The Arlo WiFi Baby Monitor is by far one of the best decisions we made when registering for baby items. This baby monitor is so much more than a monitor. It serves it’s purpose and its additional features do not disappoint or take away from its original purpose. Here are some of its features:
VIEW YOUR BABY FROM ANYWHERE
You can view your baby from anywhere in the world. All you need is the Arlo app on your phone, tablet, computer and TV. This was extremely important to us as first time parents and has helped ease our minds when we are out on date night. This feature is great because you don’t need to carry around another item. You can simply view your baby right from your phone which is most likely with you at all times anyway.
We also purchased an Amazon 8 HD Tablet to have by the bedside at night. It was inexpensive, easy to use and obviously works great with Alexa! I would also suggest purchasing a tablet stand such as this one. I keep ours connected at all times and move it around the house.
Video display & camera
The HD video display with the Arlo WiFi Baby Monitor is super clear. The Arlo app gives you the option to view the video in full screen and you can even zoom-in. The night vision makes it super easy to see at night too.
The camera head itself also moves so you can position the camera in the perfect position to see your baby. We also purchased two different mounts so we can position the camera wherever we wish. The twist mount is super easy to use and can wrap around just about anything. In addition, we also purchased a stand that is mountable to the wall. I suggest purchasing something similar if you don’t have an area close to the crib to place your camera.
As I mentioned earlier we also use an Amazon 8 HD Tablet at night to view our baby. This tablet is great because you can set the screen to a night-time AKA Blue- Shade setting. This setting allows you to adjust the brightness and color of your screen. The Blue Shade blocks blue light at night-time which is said to affect your ability to sleep. Just another perk of using this tablet for the Arlo baby monitor.
ALERT SYSTEM
The alert system in this baby monitor is AMAZING. It can detect motion, audio and knows the difference between just your typical noise or if your baby is crying. The Arlo WiFi Baby Monitor also has special air sensors. These sensors can detect everything from humidity level to temperature to VOCs. You can choose on each device how you prefer to be alerted. You can set your phone notifications, send an email and it can even alert your iWatch!
PLAYS MUSIC
Another great feature of this monitor is that it gives you the option to play lullabies for your baby right from your app or from the camera itself. There is an array of options and you can even download and record your own music.
2-way talk
This feature is pretty cool. You can use your monitoring device to speak to your baby or anyone in the room at the time. My husband and I have used it to speak to each other when we needed help with something in the nursery (kind of like a walkie-talkie)
nIGHT-LIGHT
The Arlo WiFi Baby Monitor can be used for so many things including a night-light. There are multiple options with this feature including: an endless color selection, times and brightness. You can access this via your monitoring device or the camera itself.
RECHARGeABLE BATTERY
Can we say, “HOORAY, for rechargeable batteries!” This feature allows you to bring the baby monitor wherever your heart desires. Maybe your baby fell asleep in the Pack n’ Play in the play room and you want to throw some laundry in. This feature allows you to monitor your baby wherever your little one may fall asleep.
PHOTOS & VIDEO
And last but certainly not least, the Arlo WiFi Baby Monitor allows you to take photos and video from your app on your monitoring device. The Arlo also gives you the option to beginning recording or to take a photo if there is motion or audio. The recordings are all saved to your app on a calendar with a time stamp. I found this to be really special because my son would be doing something cute in his crib and I was able to capture it without me sneaking into his room.
Oh! And it comes with three different “character covers” shown below. There are two bunnies and a cute pup.
